Many may recognise Onley as “Amazon” in the Gladiators series.
Onley has proved herself already to be a top quality defensive linebacker.
The Richmond local said the game, which is the fastest growing female sport in America, was set to take Australia by storm.
“LFL is the next big sport in Australia, that’s a promise and this is a serious sport. There will be big hits, there will be no taking it easy,” Onley said.
“I think that the traditional thought that women’s sport is less intense is going to be blown away.
“Please come and support us you’ll be guaranteed a show of athleticism combined with beauty.”
Shari’s link to the Hawkesbury is through Vitamin King Australia’s general manager James Grasso, who has lived in the area for 30 years.
Grasso is a well-known advisor to professional sports teams on sports nutrition and has worked closely with many NRL, AFL and A-League teams and this year has also been working with the Windsor Wolves.
He struck up a friendship with Onley four years ago when she was on the Gladiators series.
“Shari is one of the best natural athletes that I have ever seen, but I really believed that with some adjustments to her sports nutrition, she would be able to get an extra edge,” Grasso said.
“I have no doubt that she will take this sport and give it a great shake”
Onley said her relationship with Grasso, who runs Vitamin King in Richmond, has helped her gain an extra advantage when it comes to competing.
“When you take that leap into professional sport, it is vital that you get supplement advice from a credible source. There are many supplements around that can risk your career,” she said.
“For this reason it is great to have the support of a Hawkesbury business that knows what is legal and what is not permitted. I look forward to continuing our relationship for many years to come.”
