A woman has been airlifted to hospital in a critical condition after being knocked unconscious while unloading a horse from a float.

The 56-year-old is understood to have been unloading the horse from the float at a Grose Wold property on Saturday, December 21 when it kicked the door and knocked her unconscious, a statement from the CareFlight Helicopter team said.

"CareFlight's Rapid Response Helicopter was tasked at 5:30pm and landed in a neighbouring property," the statement said.
"NSW Police escorted the CareFlight and NSW Ambulance critical care team to the scene of the incident where NSW ambulance paramedics were providing initial treatment to the patient.
"CareFlight's specialist doctor and NSW Ambulance critical care paramedic intubated the woman to stabilise her."
The woman was airlifted by CareFlight to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition.
